Thai Massage
Thai Massage originated in the Thai Temples and monasteries which are referred to as “ Wats ’’. It was within these Wats where Buddhist monks practiced Thai Massage and considered it to be a religious rite and very much a part of their health regime. It was a place of spirituality, where people could find assistance with their health and be provided for.
Traditional Thai massage has been practiced for more than 1,000 years and is considered to be part of the Oriental bodywork family. This includes Tui Na Chinese massage, Ayurvedic Indian massage and Shiatsu Japanese massage. This type of bodywork is focused on the energy flow and energy balance theory.
Techniques: pressing, twisting and stretching, this type of massage is often to referred to as “ Bodywork ”. Thai bodywork is about energy flow and experiencing the intrinsic exchange of this between both the giver and receiver. The energy flow lines which are worked on are referred to as the Sen Channels. Applying pressure on these sen lines helps to release any stagnation and energy flow blockages. Pressing and stretching the muscles assist with this process.
Yoga is often said to be very similar to receiving Thai bodywork except the practitioner does all the work!
Thai massage will give you feelings of happiness, relaxation, relief from muscular and joint pain, improved flexibility and more energy.
